The countdown is on!

3 weeks = 21 days = 504 hours = 30.240 minutes

Sounds like a loooong time and that's why I still didn't realize what's going on... In 3 weeks I will leave behind almost everything, except a bit underwear, a backpack, toothbrush, suncream, my tablet and some headscarves. Leave behind a stable and comfortable life, full with friends, parties and love to embark into discovering a new old world, a new old love - the Middle East!

Some call it Axis of Evil, I call it 1001 nights. You see, I LOVE this! It's such a long-time dream of mine to dedicate some of my valuable lifetime to travelling and discover unknown spots. And that's maybe why suddenly the 3 weeks left until departure sound very short again - compared to the long preceding waiting time!

So, what now? How will these 3 weeks look like? Besides working full-time, I try to squeeze in some last medical check-ups, organize moving out from my apartment, acquire the right mix of credit cards, find a suitable travel insurance, inform my bank about expected funny currency usage on my cards, say goodbye to all my beloved ones, equip with the right smart devices and most importantly: book the first flight and start organizing the journey!!

The goal of my adventure is to live the days as they come, only with a very brief route in mind. But certainly not to follow an accurately planned travel route. I strive to stay with locals as much as I can and let them inspire me where to go next, whom to meet and what to learn! And of course, you are all very welcome to join me for some parts! And tadaaa, here is the brief routing:

AprilAlgeria /Tunisia /Egypt

May: Yemen /Oman

June: UAE/ Saudi

July: Qatar /Iran /Iraq

August: Lebanon / Syria

September: ???

Further ideas: Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Uganda, Rwanda, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Mongolia........ summit hiking in the Austrian mountains <3

Let me know in a comment below how you feel after reading  >> my first blog post in my life!!!<<

Also let me know in case you have any tips, tricks for travelling, the region, Arabic, smart travel tools, experiences or even friends or family in the region!

And most importantly: let me know if you want to join!

  2. Dear Petsi,

I wish you a wonderful and exciting holiday and I look forward to accompanying you virtually on your adventures. While reading, I just realized that I myself long for such an adventure, but also that I might not have the courage to do it alone. Goodbyes are always hard, but remember, reunions are even better.
